Anthurium Papillilaminum European collector's form = Anthurium Papillilaminum Daniel = Anthurium Papillilaminum Old clone

This form of Anthurium papillilaminum, which is circulating in Europe, came to a Belgian collector from the USA in the 1990s from the then chairman of the International Aroid Society (IAS) Albert Merkel. He gave the plant to his collector friend DA in 2000. In 2004, DA successfully self-pollinated and subsequently gave around 100 young plants to botanical gardens and collectors from Belgium, the Netherlands and France.

A young plant came to the botanical garden of the Free University of Amsterdam. A few direct clones from cuttings of this plant came into circulation. The original mother of the cuttings as well as DA's mother plant are no longer alive today. Descendants of this plant are also known under the name Papillilaminum “Old European Form” (“EU” for short) or “old clone”. Over time, the name Anthurium papillilaminum 'Daniel' became popular for this clone, based on the first name of the Belgian collector who successfully propagated it.

How many of his original 100 young plants have survived to this day and in which phenotypes they still occur is unclear.
