Crystallinum

Anthurium Red Crystallinum (NSE)

Anthurium 'Red Crystallinum' was initially a common name given by Enid Offolter to some plants that originally came from, or developed from, Tim Anderson's Palm Hammock Orchid Estate (formerly known as Daisy Farm). Whether Ms. Offolter came up with the name herself or, as we also understand, customers suggested it to her, remains a mystery.

What most plants of this breeding line have in common is that freshly sprouting leaves have a deep, dark red color, which disappears during curing, but in the selected forms of 'Red Crystallinum' can still be found in the otherwise silvery veins of the leaves as red central stripes are.

These impressive plants come from crosses of several Anthurium species with velvety leaves, including A. regale, A. dressleri and A. crystallinum. Tim Anderson called his most beautiful plants 'Wonderboy'. As is often the case with complex hybrids in the anthurium scene, the exact "recipe" is not known to anyone.
In addition to the 'Red Crystalinum' line from Enid Offolter from NSE Tropicals, other breeding lines should also be mentioned here.
